[edit] Introduction

The Kaligari Republic is widely viewed as a cosmopolitan empire, allowing any individual of any race to be a member. The Republic is ruled from the Capitol System of Kalos, and was established long before the Terran Empire came, including its large Terran population. It is well respected for its trading skills, and lack of a faction military. The Republic was also one of the founding signatories of the Second Galactic Senate.

[edit] Political

The Republic is based around the Corporations, citizens have shares in these corporations. The Republics government consists of 9 Chairs and 91 seats. The Chairs are the CEOs of the faction's nine most successful corporations, with changes in CEO fairly frequent, but changes in corporation rare. The 91 seats are auctioned positions, with 3 standard year terms. Any individual with shares within a Kaligari corporation can bid and win a seat. Though the seats originally all went up for auction at the same time, numerous laws and legislations have meant that the 91 seats varying a great deal when their are term of office ends and it is common for one reason or another for a seat to be put up for auction before the end of its current term. The faction as a whole is driven by profit and the acquirement of wealth for the individual, the corporation and the faction, in that order, though most citizens realise that it’s in their own interests (and profits) to support the faction. The faction is one of the most prominent trading factions in the Senate and one of the wealthiest, though its people are noted for their inability at warfare, as they have a tendency to put self-preservation before duty. Their punishment system is mostly fines and indebted service, with the notable exception of piracy, which warrants the death sentence, a rare 'privilege' for a Senate faction to be allowed to enforce.
